Slow Down
Constantly feeling like you’re behind is an issue you need to fix ASAP.
Word of advice: slow tf down.
There is zero reason for you to ever feel overwhelmed by the anxiety of something as menial as a to-do list. It’s not that deep. The clock is not ticking. The world is not ending (yet). You have time.
Worrying about what’s next is futile.
The only path it will ever lead you down is an endless loop chronic stress and anxiety. You don’t want that.
I struggle with daily. More than I care to admit. I’m very much type A. Brain never shuts off. Inner dialogue never stops. Always pursuing the unattainable. Perfection. I always feel like I’m behind. Worried about what’s next instead of right now. It’s not ideal for peak performance.
Thankfully, I've figured out a way to overcome this.
I’ve realized that most of what we worry about is simply not real. It’s fake. Both the past and the future. Fake. 5 minutes ago is no longer reality and neither is 5 minutes from now. Now is all that’s real.
So, to avoid going insane, there must be a system in place to revert back to the only “real” reality (now) when I inevitably escape the channel of presence.
This is it.
Be where your feet are. Literally.
A good friend of mine recently gave me the advice: no matter the situation, feel your feet.
That’s it.
Honing your awareness on a somatic sensation is one of the easiest ways to cement yourself in the present moment. Pair that with a few minutes of breathwork and you have yourself an actionable routine you can deploy at any time. Even just a few seconds of directed awareness is enough to recalibrate the system.
It works for me and I’ll bet it works for you.
